Assistant Professor of Spanish for the Health Professions

Health-Related and Health Leadership Experience and Expertise

My professional experience in healthcare includes working as the bilingual Community Health Program Manager and Brenner FIT Intern Coordinator, as well as a Hispanic Clinical Trial Navigator at Wake Forest Baptist Health (now Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist). I have also contributed more than 300 hours as a volunteer healthcare interpreter at the Community Care Center in Winston-Salem. My health-related education includes a Master of Public Health with a concentration in community health, as well as a graduate certificate in healthcare translation and interpreting. I have also pursued graduate studies in the teaching of healthcare interpreting at Wake Forest University.

Salem Through My Eyes

What I love about Salem College is that women are provided enhanced opportunities to pursue health-related programs, study-abroad opportunities, and relevant internships/practicums in an environment designed to cultivate them to be leaders of their respective fields. That is truly inspiring to me.

Fun Facts

  • I’m a former Emmy-nominated television producer and continue to dabble in video editing and production on the side, whenever my schedule permits.
  • I am a devoted and loving mother to two daughters, both of whom are interested in pursuing STEM/health-related careers.
  • I serve as a missionary for my church.
  • I love the saying: “It’s never too late to become what you should have been.”
