Salem Through My Eyes
What I love about Salem College is its genuine focus on individual growth and well-being of students and staff and the unique individuals that each are. It’s not just a job for faculty at Salem; it’s a collaborative passion towards success for all. It’s a true desire to support each student in achieving his or her dreams and success.
Fun Facts
- I greatly enjoy traveling, but have always loved coming home to North Carolina where I have been a life-long resident.
- I enjoy singing in my church choir in addition to singing just about anywhere I am, including the car.
- My definition of success, which I pursue and support, is best reflected in a poem adapted from an essay by Bessie A. Stanley — which is often misattributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson — that states “To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived — This is to have succeeded.”
