Salem’s beautiful residence halls are a cozy, comfortable blend of historic and modern. There are different features to love about each building, and because of Salem’s compact size, students are never far away from the center of college life, no matter which residence hall they live in.

Every residence hall at Salem includes:

  • Room Furnishings including bed, mattress, dresser, chair, and closet or wardrobe
  • Kitchen with Refrigerator, Oven, Microwave and Kitchen Supplies
  • FREE Laundry Machines
  • Ice Machines

  • Communal Lounges
  • Lobbies for Guests and Events

Bahnson House

This quaint building houses sixteen students in single, double and triple rooms. Bahnson has a combination of community and private bathrooms throughout the house. The renovated full kitchen and furnished living spaces provide a cozy atmosphere for this small community. A Resident Assistant is available on the first floor to assist students.

  • Laundry Location: 1st Floor, off shower rooms
  • Other features: The smallest residence hall, this building offers a unique opportunity to bond with your neighbors and build a community that will extend past your time on-campus

1772 Hall

1772 Hall sits in the center of campus and is home to forty-five students on three floors and in the basement. Students live in single and double rooms joined by a bathroom, suite style. Recently renovated, 1772 Hall has wood floors and a charming lobby and basement area in which students may relax and socialize. There is a full kitchen located in the basement along with a laundry room. 1772 Hall has multiple RAs available to assist with personal concerns and social development.

  • Other features: The building is a common home of many student leaders in their later years at Salem College

Clewell Hall

Clewell hall is located at the front of campus and houses approximately 130 students on three floors. The rooms in this building are traditional double rooms or single rooms. Clewell has community bathrooms and a laundry room on each of the three floors. There are two renovated lobby spaces on the first floor and a lounge in the basement, including televisions and a ping-pong table, providing a wonderful space for relaxation and recreation. RAs are available on each floor to assist students with social development and community concerns.

  • Other features: Health Services is located in the basement of Clewell Residence Hall

Gramley Hall

Gramley is located toward the edge of campus and houses approximately one hundred students on three floors. The majority of the rooms in this building are traditional double rooms. Gramley has a community bathroom and laundry room located on each floor. The basement in this building has over-sized, comfortable furnishings. A full kitchen, a pool table and a TV all contribute to a vibrant common space for students to use. Two RAs are available on each floor to assist students with personal concerns, social development, and community concerns.

South Hall

South Hall is located at the front of campus next to Main Hall and is home to forty-five students on three floors. The majority of the rooms in this building are traditional double rooms. South has community bathrooms located on each floor. There is a shared laundry room and full kitchen in this building. Both a formal lobby and cozy lounge area provide students with many options for social interaction. RAs are available in this building to assist with personal concerns, social development and community concerns.

  • Other features: A kitchenette has also been added to the basement in order for students to have easier access to amenities while they are gathering
