Position Summary:

The Athletic Graduate Assistant will serve as an assistant coach. This position must understand and comply with NCAA Division III, USA South Conference and Salem College rules and regulations. This position provides tuition reimbursement and a stipend. Opportunity for housing can be discussed if interested in additional responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position will assist the head coach in all areas, including:
    • Prospective student-athlete recruiting
    • Student-athlete development
    • Practice and game day coaching
    • Team transportation and travel planning
    • Administrative office duties
    • In-season & off-season duties
    • Other duties as assigned by head coach

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • College playing experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Positive energy
  • A desire to coach
  • Must be eligible for acceptance in MAT or Med program at Salem College

Physical Functions:

While performing the responsibilities of the Athletic Graduate Assistant, the employee is required to sit or stand for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 to 40 pounds; frequently walk, and kneel and regularly ascend/descend stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation, view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in an office setting.
