Salem College Supports WNC College Application Days for Students Impacted by Hurricane Helene

Winston-Salem, NC – Salem College is pleased to announce its participation in the WNC College Application Days initiative taking place December 4-6, which provides fee waivers to students from 26 counties in Western North Carolina. This effort comes in response to the disruption caused by Hurricane Helene in October, preventing many students from participating in College Application Week.

The initiative begins December 4th at 7:30 am. As part of this initiative, Salem College’s application fee will be waived for students who list one of the 26 eligible counties within their permanent address on their applications through CFNC.org, Common App, and Niche.

Salem College is honored to be a part of this important effort, which will help ensure that more students have access to higher education, despite the challenges posed by the recent hurricane.

“Our heart goes out to those affected by Hurricane Helene, especially high school students whose senior year has been disrupted by this terrible disaster,” said Summer McGee, PhD, President of Salem Academy and College. “Anyone in Western North Carolina can apply to Salem College for free from December 4-6. We are hopeful those impacted by Helene are able to take advantage of this opportunity to find their future college home at Salem.”
