The Salem Advantage

New Salem College and Forsyth Tech Partnership Provides Affordable Access to Education

Winston-Salem, NC (MARCH 21, 2024) – On March 21, the presidents of Salem College and Forsyth Technical Community College (Forsyth Tech) signed a historic co-admissions and scholarship agreement giving Forsyth Tech students an opportunity to combine degrees at both institutions while receiving scholarships.

The Salem-Forsyth Tech Advantage is one of the most advantageous partnerships in the nation for students. The agreement is a guarantee to students, that after scholarships, their tuition will not exceed more than $3,000 per year at Salem College.

The program, which aligns with Salem’s No. 2 in the nation ranking for social mobility by U.S. News & World Report, will help Salem prepare a new generation of leaders in health and other important fields in today’s workforce.

“Today’s agreement between Forsyth Tech Community College and Salem College reinforces our shared commitment to creating opportunity for all students and to creating clear, affordable and accessible opportunities for educational advancement for all,” Salem Academy and College President Summer McGee said.

“As America’s health leadership college, we are especially thrilled to partner with Forsyth Tech given their high-quality array of health, science, and technology programs,” she added.

Beyond the economic impact the Salem-Forsyth Tech Advantage provides students, the agreement helps students better navigate the complex educational journey between being a student at a community college with an associate’s degree to transitioning into a bachelor’s degree program.

The agreement fosters belonging from the beginning of students’ college transfer journey and allows them to benefit from both the college transfer resources at Forsyth Tech and the community and care of being a Salem student. Students will also receive advising from Salem College to make sure they are on track to succeed in their chosen major once they transfer.

Applications are now open and Forsyth Tech students interested in the program should visit salem.edu/admissions and start their transfer application or contact admissions@salem.edu.
