Salem College to Host Annual Celebration of Academic Excellence
Salem College will host its annual Celebration of Academic Excellence on Wednesday, April 12 to recognize student and faculty scholarly and creative achievements. The Celebration of Academic Excellence is one of Salem’s most significant events of the year, indicating the centrality of scholarship in the life of the college.
Salem will suspend classes on April 12 so that students can attend the event. The Celebration of Academic Excellence is open to all Salem students, faculty and staff. The celebration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Salem Academy and College’s Elberson Fine Arts Center with a faculty research symposium. Student presentations will follow and continue throughout the day.
“Our Celebration of Academic Excellence is a highlight of the year for Salem students and faculty. It focuses on the work of our graduating seniors, and is a celebration of their achievement, an example of the sorts of scholarship to which other students can aspire, and a reminder of Salem’s commitment to academic excellence,” said Gary Daynes, Ph.D., Salem College interim vice president for academic and student affairs and interim dean of the College. “I’m looking forward to the celebration and invite everyone from the Salem community to attend as we showcase the accomplishments of our students and faculty.”
